FAQ

The rental vehicle can be collected the day before from 16:00, or with the option "early collection" from 14:00.

The return must take place at the latest at 07:30 on the following day of the rental, or with the option "later return" by 10:00.

Collection with "personal introduction": only possible during our business hours Monday-Friday 07:30-12:00 and 13:00-17:30, not on weekends (Saturday/Sunday) and not on public holidays (Switzerland/Canton Zurich). The arrangement of the collection time is the responsibility of the hirer (by e-mail or telephone). If no pick-up time is agreed, the vehicle will be ready from 16:00 on the day before the rental. Non-attended "personal introductions" will not be refunded.

Pick-up without "personal introduction": 7x24h possible (key safe/PIN code according to booking confirmation e-mail).

Example: You rent the vehicle for a Wednesday - then you can pick it up on Tuesday at 16:00 (optional 14:00) at the earliest and return it by Thursday 07:30 (optional 10:00) at the latest.

A later pick-up or earlier return is always possible. For the option "Personal introduction", please note the opening hours!

Bookings are made exclusively online and payment is made by credit card at the time of booking.

The name of the credit card holder does not have to be the same as the customer's name, a relative or friend's credit card can also be used.

Bookings by phone or email are not possible and we cannot offer other payment options (Twint, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, bank transfer, cash etc.).

The minimum duration of a rental is 1 day. We do not offer hourly or half-day rentals.

Kilometres are unlimited and included in the rental price. We do not offer a discount for rentals where the vehicle is only driven a few kilometres.

Wedding planned and chauffeur wanted? Rent a Classic does not offer a chauffeur service. Our vehicles are for self-driving. In our experience, there is someone in every party who would like to drive a classic car.

The renter does not have to be the driver, and several additional drivers can be booked (insurance premium 25.- per additional driver).

You can see the availability and prices in each case on the detail page of the vehicles in the calendar - green means "available", red means "already rented". The price is displayed when you click on an available date. With the button "Next" you can select or deselect the options.

• Rebookings will be charged CHF 50.- as far as possible up to 2 days before the start of the rental period, as long as the total rental costs are not reduced.
• In the event of cancellation up to 14 days before the start of the rental period (of max. two vehicles per customer), the customer will receive a voucher for 100% of the rental price. If the customer wishes a refund to a bank account instead, a handling fee of CHF 50 will be charged.
• If the cancellation is made less than 14 days before the start of the rental, 50% of the booked rental costs (and options) will be charged.
• Individual options booked but not used are non-refundable (e.g. additional driver, personal introduction etc.).
• If the journey is not commenced without cancellation, the full rental costs will be charged.
• Green Diamond customers may cancel a rental free of charge 2 times per year until the scheduled start of the rental.
• Cancellations must be made by e-mail to info@rentaclassic.swiss and will be confirmed within 48 hours. A shortening of the rental period will be treated as a cancellation.
• For group bookings (more than 2 vehicles at a time), the cancellation conditions are to be agreed individually, please contact us.
• Any travel insurance is the responsibility of the hirer (e.g. if he wishes to insure the cancellation costs in the event of illness, accident, pandemic, etc.).

The vehicle rental allows driving in Switzerland.

Due to EU legislation, the option "Crossing the border abroad" must be booked in addition for border crossings abroad, otherwise there is no insurance cover. In addition, fees and costs may be incurred (fines, immobilisation of the vehicle, official orders, loss of rental income with Rent a Classic, etc.), which are to be borne in full by the renter causing the problem.

Applies to: Italy, Germany, Liechtenstein, Austria, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg - all other countries must be requested individually with Rent a Classic.

Drivers residing outside Switzerland must clarify the use abroad - there are restrictions imposed by the customs authorities of the various countries.

For the rental, a valid driving licence cat. B (or equivalent) from Switzerland, Liechtenstein or the EU states - other states/citizenships and "probationary driving licences" on request.

Rent a Classic must be informed immediately of any withdrawal of driving licence. This does not entitle the renter to extraordinary termination of membership. The vehicle may only be driven by the renter. Additional drivers can be named at the time of reservation for an appropriate fee and by submitting the driving licence.

With Rent a Classic there is no kilometre limit, all kilometres driven are included in the rental price, regardless of whether you are a member or not!

Vouchers can be ordered for up to CHF 3000.- maximum and will be sent by email immediately after payment by credit card (PDF to print out). This means it is also possible to get a voucher at short notice, e.g. as a gift. We do not offer vouchers for a specific vehicle, all vouchers are valid for all vehicles (or membership, options etc.). The customer can easily pay any additional rental fee by credit card.

Vouchers are not cumulative. Paid (monetary) vouchers can be extended as desired. Vouchers from promotions expire on the date printed on them. Cash payment or refund of vouchers is excluded.

The vehicles are divided into five price categories and the prices differ within the categories as follows:

• Weekday or Weekend/Holiday
• Member/Normal price

There are no additional costs if you return the vehicle in good order, with a full tank of petrol and within the rental period.

Possible additional costs are:

• Not a full tank on returnal
• Damage caused negligently or wilfully
• Cleaning caused by the forbidden bringing of animals
• Cleaning caused by disregarding the smoking ban
• Late return
• Fines (speeding, disregarding red lights, prohibited use, etc.). The customer will be charged a administration fee of 50.- for the identification of the responsible driver in the case of penalties or fines. The personal data will be reported to the authorities.

The minimum age for driving a Rent a Classic vehicle is 18 years. Drivers under 25 years of age must pay an insurance supplement of 25.- and must also book the personal introduction at a cost of 50.-, which can only take place during business hours.

Parking of your private vehicle on the premises of Rent a Classic/The Valley Motorworld is included in the rental price during the rental period. For this purpose, the "parking permit" must be placed behind the windscreen, otherwise a parking fine may follow (chargeable parking spaces). The private vehicle may only be parked in the marked Rent a Classic or visitor parking spaces. 

The hirer will receive a code for the key box with the booking confirmation, in which the key for the Rent a Classic and the parking authorisation for the private vehicle are deposited.

All our vehicles are regularly serviced by MADmotors GmbH in Kemptthal. For our customers, we keep the vehicles in technically perfect condition.

They all have a natural patina, they are not over-restored concours vehicles that should not have a speck of dust on them. Our vehicles are intended to provide experiences, not to stand around in a museum.

For the sake of completeness, we would like to point out a few minor details.

Some of our vehicles do not have a car radio, or only long and medium wave can be received. Perhaps a car radio is installed, but not in working order. Never mind, we think, on the contrary: enjoy the vehicle without distraction. If you still want musical entertainment, just sing out loud.

If a clock is installed but not working: be happy about it. You are now sitting in your dream vintage car, and time does not matter.

Some vehicles were once delivered with "air conditioning", which may now no longer work and has not been repaired. But if "air conditioning" is mentioned on the vehicle page, then it does work!

 Is a 12-volt connection ("cigarette lighter") necessary to charge a smartphone battery? Very few of our classic cars have such a connection. It may be that one is available, but has been deactivated by us for technical reasons. It is best to take a fully charged "power bank" with you.

Visible defects (such as damage to the paintwork) or damage (e.g. dents) must be reported by e-mail with a photo to  schaden@rentaclassic.swiss before the start of the journey, but at the latest after discovery. 

Our vehicles must be fuelled with unleaded petrol with at least 98 octane (exception - London Taxi: diesel).

When refuelling, set the nozzle to low flow (do not pull the handle all the way), otherwise petrol can slosh back through the filler neck. Fill up completely, not just until the automatic shut-off is activated.

A general map with the addresses of the petrol stations in the vicinity can be found in the document bag in the vehicle.

If a vehicle is not filled up, a flat rate of 50.- will be charged in addition to the cost of the petrol.

The renter is prohibited from using the vehicle:

• for participation in motor sport events, trackdays, regularity drives, safety training, vehicle tests, driving training/learning drives.
• for the transport of goods or persons against payment.
• to tow, haul or otherwise move another vehicle.
• in an overloaded condition, i.e. with a number of persons or a payload exceeding the values stated in the vehicle registration document.
• for the carriage of flammable, explosive, toxic or dangerous substances.
• for the commission of customs offences and other criminal offences, even if these are only punishable under the law of the place where the offence was committed.
• for subletting.
• for skidding courses, driving courses, etc. Excluded are courses explicitly offered by Rent a Classic.

For hygienic reasons, animals are prohibited in Rent a Classic vehicles. In the event of non-compliance, cleaning will be arranged and the client will be charged a fee of CHF 100.

Smoking is strictly prohibited in all vehicles.

In winter road conditions, comply with point 13.1. in our T&C

If the oil indicator light, water temperature indicator light or other warning lights are illuminated, stop the vehicle immediately and contact Rent a Classic on the emergency number 052 521 17 19 for further instructions. The vehicle may no longer be driven.

Rent a Classic is not liable for expenses or breakdowns resulting from a breakdown, accident, defect or damage to the vehicle.

All vehicles are insured against third party liability and fully comprehensive insurance. The deductible is CHF 2,000. For an appropriate fee, the deductible can be set at 0. Damage caused wilfully or negligently or by use not in accordance with the intended purpose is not covered and will be charged to the customer. 

All vehicles are insured with roadside assistance. In the event of a breakdown, please contact us directly during our opening hours, otherwise the Touring Club Schweiz TCS and/or Rent a Classic via the emergency number 052 521 17 19 (for emergencies only!). You will find the TCS documents in the document folder in the vehicle.

Rent a Classic is not liable for expenses or breakdowns resulting from a breakdown, accident, defect or damage to the vehicle.

In the case of events such as accidents, theft (burglary/theft/ misappropriation etc.), loss, fire, damage caused by game or other damage, the hirer must notify the police immediately and have a police report drawn up.

This also applies to self-inflicted accidents without the involvement of third parties. Opposing claims must not be recognised. In the event of theft, loss or misappropriation of the vehicle, Rent a Classic must always be contacted immediately in addition to the police. In the event of any of the aforementioned incidents, even in the case of minor damage, the hirer must immediately draw up a detailed written report, including a sketch. In the event of an accident, the report must contain in particular the names and addresses of the persons involved and any witnesses, as well as the registration numbers of the vehicles involved. For this purpose, the European accident report form, which can be found in every vehicle folder, is to be used.

In the event of theft, the vehicle keys, a report on the circumstances of the theft and the police report must be submitted to Rent a Classic within 24 hours. The renter must grant Rent a Classic complete access to the files.

Rent a Classic is not liable for expenses or losses incurred as a result of a breakdown, accident, defect or damage to the vehicle.
